FAQ

Fifteen questions attorneys ask most, answered directly.

Every file is hashed on intake so nothing is lost or altered without it being caught. The assistant can search the record but cannot change it. Files, transfers, and hosted builds are encrypted. I keep no copy after delivery is confirmed, unless you ask in writing to leave one with me.

You do. The completed database is yours outright, on a build you run. Even on a retainer, where I host the database on my own equipment, you receive the completed database at case close and I wipe my copy with a written certificate.

I work with medical charts regularly in guardianship, elder-abuse, and hospice matters, and I will sign a business associate agreement when the matter calls for one. Raise it at intake and it is part of the engagement paperwork before any medical file moves.

No. I organize, extract, index, and find. Counsel decides relevance, privilege, and strategy. The assistant answers with citations to the record; it does not tell you what those citations mean for your case.

Yes. See Retained for the case. I host it on my own equipment, isolated to your matter alone, and stay on as your investigator for the life of the case. You still receive the completed database at close. Retained-for-the-case slots are limited and are taken in the order engagement agreements are signed.

Send the OCR'd files directly and skip that line item. The database build price is based on page count either way.

Turnaround is scoped to the size of the production and confirmed in the quote before work begins. Rush service, under 5 business days, is available for an added 50 percent.

No. Everything is handled without a site visit, with a call if you want one. Tips on using the assistant are provided at signing.

Nothing separate. Everything is built on Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, nothing homemade. You keep your files, your keys, and your AI service. Safe, reliable, no service calls. If your firm wants its own dedicated hardware instead, see AI server builds.

Yes. The assistant takes plain-English questions, no technical background required, and tips on using it, plus worked example questions, are provided at signing.

The full body of law for one practice area, loaded into the database beside your evidence: Oregon statutes with full text, administrative rules, court rules, appellate opinions, Attorney General opinions, bench books, and forms, so a search can return your record and the law behind it together.

A guardianship-law authority pack is already built: 712 documents and 46,198 chunks, statutes, rules, and appellate opinions. Probate, family law, general PI-supported litigation, and criminal-defense-support packs are available to build for your matter; the practice-area fee covers building whichever one you need.

A federal corpus, dockets and opinions through CourtListener and RECAP, PACER retrieval on request, and applicable federal statutes such as 42 U.S.C. 1983, is available as an add-on to a Level 3 build.

Every file is counted and hashed on intake, and that count is the basis for the quote. If the real count differs from the estimate by more than 5 percent once work starts, I re-quote before continuing rather than after.

Yes, on a limited basis, for matters involving Oregon Department of Human Services actions, hospice care, and adult foster home abuse or neglect. If your matter fits, say so when you reach out and we will discuss it directly.
