Blue Mountain Private Investigators takes defined assignments involving records, witnesses, public information, financial activity, and digital evidence. Every engagement starts with a clear question and an identified source set, and ends with work product you can check against the record.
Service directory
Elder safety and exploitation
When the care record doesn't match the care, the record gets reviewed: facility and hospice files, medications, incident reports, guardianship conduct, access restrictions, fiduciary activity, claims, communications, and oversight records.
Litigation support
Counsel keeps the judgment; the record gets the work. Typical deliverables: chronologies, counsel-defined issue matrices, witness work, document indexes, exhibit support, and factual reports tied to source pages.
Searchable record preparation
Embedded text is extracted, scanned pages are OCR-processed, and source relationships are preserved. Deliverables may include searchable files, a source index, and focused record lookups.
Digital documents and metadata
Work may address original files, hashes, timestamps, revisions, embedded objects, document provenance, and comparison across systems.
Public records and OSINT
Services may include custodian research, Oregon public-records and federal FOIA support, request and response tracking, entity research, and agency-process reconstruction.
Due diligence and location
Work may include background verification, corporate and asset research, address and employment corroboration, skip tracing, and witness location.
Conflict screening
The practice is a separate for-profit business. Levi Bakke also founded and continues separate work through Valor Investigations, a nonprofit focused on education, public information, and volunteer assistance. Conflict screening considers relevant knowledge and obligations from work involving either entity.
Reduced-fee and pro bono work
People affected by elder abuse, exploitation, care-facility harm, wrongful death, or related public-accountability failures who cannot afford investigative services may request limited assistance. Attorneys representing victims pro bono may request reduced-fee or no-fee support. Availability depends on conflict clearance, fit, urgency, evidence, scope, safety, and capacity. Outside costs are discussed before work begins.
Scope and limitations
The practice does not provide legal advice, medical opinions, certified public-accounting audits, or guarantees of agency or court action. Domestic and relationship surveillance is considered only case by case.
